Semi and Final Tickets
The one down side of a 'do it yourself' tour like this is the fact that the travel companies offer tickets for the semis and final while we have to take our chance in the Ballot in February 2011. Mind you when you see that some of the trips are around £15,000 for two for a 17 day campervan tour it makes the 49 day Where's Nelly Tour seem very cheap.
The tickets for the Final are priced at £600,£550,£400 and £200- Ouch. I don't want to Jinx our chances in the Ballot but for two people the cheapest you are going to be bale to see the final is for £400.
Anyone else think these are a tad overpriced. I know its the final and you can make comparisons with the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup but even so, often you can get cheaper lower end tickets. In this case the third best tickets for a couple will cost you £800. However I'm still hoping we get the chance to debate whether we go for it or not by being successful in the ballot so watch this space. If the Ballot computer is listening I didn't mean it honest.
Oh I have thought of another down side- You don't get a nice tour wallet with a map of NZ in it. Im sure we can fix that.

In Feb 2011 we are in the ballot for Semi and Final tickets along with all the other people who have purchased tickets so far. Lots it seems!!!

J and M Flights
Flights booked today for J and M - Air NZ London- Hong Kong (3 night stop)- Hong Kong- Auckland (12 nights in the North Island and then NZ v Tonga and the opening ceremony) Very early flight from Auckland- Christchurch with Jet Star ( cheap flight) - 2 weeks in the South Island including England v Argentina in Christchurch, Scotland v Georgia in Dunedin, England v Georgia in Christchurch, Skiing in Queenstown and England v Play off winner in Dunedin. Then Dunedin to Auckland and London via LA. Exciting. Finding it quite hard to sort out our flights as we cant book the return yet as its too far away (more than 355 days) and we can only hold the outbound flights for a short time. Holding Emirates flights at a higher price as their cheaper flights are not released yet. Im sure we will get there soon

Snowbike
Even more excited now as a ski shop in Christchurch will let me borrow their demonstrator snowbike to use when we are in the Queenstown area. Basically that means I can ski with Annie , Josie and Martha now rather than sitting around in the cafe waiting for them. Actually the cafe option was OK as well but Im sure there will be plenty of time for that
Planning Planning Planning
Getting excited now as its less than a year to go (Yes I know thats a long time really) and we can nearly buy the air tickets. So far we have booked the campervan for 7 weeks , the ferry crossings, the whale watching and tickets for all the England Games and the Quarter finals. I will update the ticket situation as we go as we are in the ballot for semis and finals tkts as well. Everyone cross their fingers. kia Ora
